For the exterior of your home we can install vandal and water proof security cameras. The ability to view the exterior of your home after dark can be accomplished by two different methods.

The first and least expensive method is to install a security camera that has built in infrared illuminators. These types of cameras emit ifrared light which is not visible to the human eye but is visible to the security camera. These security cameras provide color images during the day but after dark they produce a black and white image.

The second method is the installation of low light video surveillance cameras which are also refered to as star light surveillance cameras. They use highly sensitive image sensors that allow them to see color even in low light conditions and are not limited to how far they can view as are security cameras with ifrared illuminators. Low light security cameras also do not attract insects as they produce no light. This aspect only becomes relevant when the video surveillance system is programmed to record motion events.

The heart of a home surveillance system is the digital video recorder. It controls all the functions that have been programmed for the video surveillance system. Modern digital video recorders come in two different styles one that uses a Windows operating system and the other that uses a Linux based operating system. A Window based video surveillance system is a computer like the ones that can be bought from many retail companies but have been modified with video surveillance cards. Having Windows as operating system has a few draw backs that a Linux based system does not suffer from to the same extent. Linux has fewer system crashes and is less vulnerable to viruses. We prefer to install the Linux based system for these reasons.
